CASE STUDY :
PACIFIC TRADING CO.
How We Created a Personal Shopping Experience Online for Pacific Trading Co.
Amandi and Rama Zoe, owners of Pacific Trading Co., were forced to close their fashion boutiques in Santa Cruz and Capitola as a result of Covid outbreaks. Instantly, we offered to set up an e-commerce website for them to showcase and sell their products. But as a high-end boutique, Amandi and Rama were afraid the overall shopping experience online might not be the same as their clients were used to. After a few brainstorm sessions we came up with a new solution - allowing them to create a new type of service online. We set up an online booking platform so users can schedule personal shopping appointments. Prior to the appointment each of the clients fills out a style questionnaire so the staff can pre-shop and present options to them in a private video call. We set up the calendar, wrote the script for the automatic response email, and edited the settings to fit the details that Anandi and Rama Zoe wanted (time, description, days of week, etc). We also set the calendar up in a way that allowed the customers to choose how they wanted to attend the virtual appointment (zoom, facetime, skype). Shortly after we launched their first website, the calendar was fully booked with appointments of new and existing clients. Anandi and Rama Zoe loved the new virtual feature. It was set up so that the customers could buy the clothing, get it through curb-side pickup, try it on at home and return anything that they didn’t like. In terms of sales - Pacific Trading Co. managed to maintain most of their business without the need to operate it physically. Even today, when boutiques are open, this service is being maintained for those who prefer shopping online.
Up until COVID shuttered the locally owned women's boutique, business was booming. This is how we managed to keep it working online while maintaining its tailor made client’s experience during social distance practices.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Pacific Trading Co. is locally owned and operated by our team of 3; mom and two daughters. It was 1985 when Carolyn Heinrich bought the business with 2 locations in Santa Cruz and Capitola. The sisters, Anandi Heinrich and Rama Zoe Heinrich grew up in the business, hanging out with Mom downtown, steaming clothes and helping out. Together we have built and maintained a Santa Cruz destination, offering beautiful clothes, and amazing customer service to Santa Cruz County women for over 35 years!
